November Newsletter: Turkey Lurkey Time

“It’s Turkey Lurkey Time.”

As Thanksgiving approaches, I invite you to watch this insane performance of Turkey Lurkey Time from the 1969 Tony Awards.

Rewatching this performance and unpacking the subtext of their quirky office party with its diabolical choreography has become a holiday tradition in my family. Hear me out: the choreographer of this number was on the take with a local chiropractor. It’s the ONLY explanation for these dance moves.

Whatever your holiday tradition is, I hope it’s weird and lively. Just like us.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Now on with the list…

love, Suzanne

Neil Brennan’s new standup special, Blocks takes an honest and hilarious look at a few heavy subjects. Brennan, along with director Derek DelGaudio, creates an elevated piece of theater within a genre once relegated to dive bars.

When I picked up this book from my own bookshelf this month, it had a receipt from 2011 tucked inside. I had underlined a lot of things in The Gifts of Imperfection that year. This book is worth a re-read more than a decade later.

Wanna love Diane Keaton even more than we already do?

Okay then, listen to this song where she joins Ashe in a duet, Love is Letting Go.

Evidently, Diane Keaton has a beautiful singing voice but she’s all “La-dee-da, La-dee-da” about it.
